Avaya Aura - Transfer incoming call back to the trunk (to outside/mobile number)

    Hi,

I created an extension and linked it to a mobile/outside number for transferring calls. The transfer works flawlessly when I call from one internal phone to another and then transfer to the newly created extension. The call goes through the trunk, and the transfer completes successfully.

However, there's an issue when trying to transfer a call that comes from outside (through the trunk) to the newly created extension, which is supposed to transfer to the mobile/outside number.

In short, an incoming call from the trunk cannot be transferred back to the trunk.

I tried enabling the feature "Trunk-to-Trunk Transfer" but without success.

If anyone has any suggestions on how to solve this problem, please respond.

    Thanks.

Is this call forwarding or EC500 to the user's mobile? Trunk-to-trunk transfer should not be in play if the same trunk is used for in/outbound. Caller ID could also be a problem here if the carrier is screening and the system is sending the external orginator's CID.

Share the trace output of the call to the forwarded station.

If I need to forward a call to an external mobile number on the Avaya Aura system, what configurations do I need to make on the system to ensure the transfer is efficient and reliable?

There's lot of things to check when you're transferring a call this way - and also lots of ways to achieve this functionality.

First - you need to check what "FRL" the number you're trying to dial out is using, let's say for this example it's "3"
Then - you need to check what route the digit is going to take via the "ARS" table.
That'll tell you what trunk you're transferring, so let's say you come in on "Trunk 1" and go out "Trunk 2"

Next you need to check what the "COR" is on Trunk 1 and Trunk 2, and ensure they have a "COR" that has an "FRL" high enough to allow the call out.

You also need to check if the "COR" allows those two "COR's" to talk, (It's the 4th or 5th page that has all the 1? y 2? n...etc.. on it, so if Trunk 1 is COR 1 and Trunk 2 is COR2, you need to check of 1?y exists in Trunk 2 and 2?y exists in Trunk 2.

If you're not stuck on the idea of using trunk to trunk transfer, there's an easier way to achieve what you're doing.

The easiest way to do this... is to use "EC500" (Since it'll actually use a station to make the call instead of forcing you to do a trunk-to trunk transfer)

Create an X-Port or H.323 station (IE set type "9608") or (J179)

          - Name is something like "Transfer to Outside"
Set the "COR" to whatever your own station has (If your station can call the outside line you're trying to reach)
On Page 2 (Might be different depending on the set)
Look for a setting called "EC500 State" and make sure it's set to "enabled"

Go ahead and create the station.

Once it's created run the command "change off sta XXXX" where XXXX is the station you created.

If you see an "OPS" application just go to the next line - this is the application that talks to "Session manager" if you use a SIP station and needs to remain. (IE, ignore this line)

On the open line under set the following
"Station Extension" put the extension of the station you created.
          Under "Application" input "EC500"
          Under Dial-Prefix leave is blank
          Under CC, input a "1"
Under "Phone Number" input the Outside number you're transferring to.
          Under Trunk Selection input "ars"
          Config Set input 1.

Now go to your VDN, or vector or whatever you're using to forward to the station and on the "route-to" step, or forwarding, forward to the extension you created.
If you're just doing basic call-forwarding from another station, input the extension there instead of the outside line.

          Some things to note -

You might have to change the "CC" to a "blank" if your system is set up to 10 digit dial instead of 11.

There's also other ways we can set this up if you aren't licensed for "EC500", however, all modern Avaya Systems with SubX have a 1:1 ratio of Station to EC500 licenses now.

Let me know if this helps or if anything is unclear.
