We have Voice Portal 5.0 and about to upgrade to 5.1
Three physical servers, VPMS, MPP1, MPP2, all of them are running Avaya Enterprise Linux RHE5.4-AV13.0VP1
One APP server is a virtual high availability server running CentOS linux.
Simplified order of upgrade:
Phase1:
Upgrade VPMS Operating system to RHE5.4-AV14.1-VP6
Upgrade VPMS Voice Portal to 5.1
Upgrade MPP1 Operating system to RHE5.4-AV14.1-VP6
Upgrade MPP1 to 5.1
Upgrade MPP2 Operating system to RHE5.4-AV14.1-VP6
Upgrade MPP2 to 5.1
Everything should be functional at this point even though APP server is still on DD 5.0,
and it is safe to let the system run like this for a few days?
Sometime next week, Phase2:
Upgrade Dialog Designer development workstations to DD 5.1
Upgrade APP server to DD 5.1
Is it true, the only real downtime is when APP server is being upgraded?
(MPPs are handling calls while VPMS is upgraded, and MPPs are upgraded one at a time)
The voiceportal upgrade document states:
Before you configure Voice Portal, ensure that Avaya provides the following site-specific items:
• Product ID: The unique product ID for your site. This is a numeric identifier that must be
provided when the VPMS software is installed.
• The Voice Portal license file: Determines the maximum number of telephony ports
available to this Voice Portal system, as well as whether the speech applications in the
system can use ASR or Text-to-Speech TTS resources. The license file must be installed
on the Avaya WebLM server.
I was told I do not need the "Product ID" by Avaya support. Right?
The license file we have is still good as we are going from 5.0 to 5.1. Right?
That's all there is to it (in a nutshell), Right?
thanks,
Bob
