    MGC Heartbeat timer

Is there documentation in regards to the Heartbeat timer between a MGC card and the Call processor. I am looking for something that states officially the Threhold timer for missing hearbeats before a MGC starts a reboot process. We have tested and found (Via sniffer traces) that 9 to10 secs of missing heartbeat (1second Intervals) causes the MGC to reboot.aNY DOCUMENTATION WHERE THIS IS OFFICIALLY DEFINED WOULD BE HELPFUL.

      MGC Heartbeat timer

10 seconds should not make the MG to reboot. There are timers and recovery mechanism built into the MG. Some links and documents I listed below for your reference. The MG should try to conenct to list of gatekeepers in the primary controller list for x amount of time. after that, it should try to conenct to seconday controllers. if the MG is rebooting, then there might be something wrong.

      - what type of MG is this?
      - What's the firmware on it?
      - what's the Communication manager version?
      - How did you simulate the network outage?

Administration for the Avaya G450 Media Gateway

If the connection between the G450 and its registered MGC is lost, the G450 attempts to recover the connection. Use the set reset-times primary-search command and the set reset-times total-search command to set the timeout for the G450’s search for the primary MGC and the other MGCs on its MGC list, respectively. Use the set reset-times transition-point command to configure the point at which the primary MGCs in the list end and the LSPs begin. For example, if there are three IP addresses in the MGC list and the third address is the LSP, the transition point should be 2.
The default time for the primary search is one minute. The default time for the total search is 30 minutes. The default transition point is 1.
      G450-001(super)# set reset-times primary-search 20
      Done!
      G450-001(super)# set reset-times total-search 40
      Done!
      G450-001(super)# set reset-times transition-point 1
      Done!
In this example, in the event of a connection loss with the registered MGC, the G450 searches for the primary MGC on its MGC list for 20 minutes. If the G450 does not establish a connection with the primary MGC within this time, it searches for the other MGCs on the list for a total of 40 minutes.
