DEFINITY Hardware
This section describes circuit packs used by DEFINITY systems, and Release 9 in particular.
All circuit packs are approximately 8 in. (20 cm) by 13 in. (33 cm). The following connectors attach to 1 end of a circuit pack: 200-pin connector to a
TN-labeled circuit pack and a 300-pin connector to a
UN-labeled circuit pack.
Faceplates on the circuit packs are sized to fill the width of a slot, typically 0.75 inches (1.9 cm). Each circuit pack faceplate has a standard pattern of 3 LEDs that indicate the following conditions:
- Red indicates a fault condition
- Green indicates a test condition
- Yellow indicates a busy condition
A special grounding latch on each circuit pack protects it from electrostatic discharge during installation and removal.
Circuit Packs for R9
A basic Release R9si system upgrade uses 3 required circuit packs, a R9csi upgrade uses 1 circuit pack, and a R9r upgrades uses 3 required circuit packs. An upgrade may also use optional circuit packs to provide specific features or to support non-US installations.
For brief descriptions of all circuit packs, see List of Circuit Packs. For information about when to install the TN2401 NetCon circuit pack, see When to use the TN2401 versus the TN2401/TN2400 sandwich pack For information about a required or optional circuit pack, click on the links on this page.

Non-US circuit packs
Since DEFINITY ECS supports international call-processing applications, a wide variety of non-US circuit packs can also be used in this system. For a listing and brief description of these circuit packs, refer to the List of Circuit Packs.
