A Remote Maintenance Board (RMB) is installed in every S3400-H.
This board sends system alarms to a remote maintenance center, and
allows technical support personnel to dial in to repair or update
the server. The S3210 uses a serial
modem for remote maintenance.
The RMB setup varies depending on your location.
Note: The type of external modem used with the
RMB varies depending on geographical location. See the documentation
included with your modem if you have questions about modem installation,
setup, or operation.
To install the RMB:
- Connect the adapter end of the RMB-to-COM2 cable to the COM2
serial port on the back of the server.
- Attach the other end of the cable to the lower RJ45 jack on
the RMB faceplate. Verify that the jack snaps securely in place.
Note: The RMB is located in different PCI
slots, depending on the type of motherboard that is installed.
See S3400-H back views to determine
the location of the RMB for your server model.
- Make the appropriate connections based on the type of RMB installed:
either an on-board model or an external modem.
