Overview of event, error, and alarm logs on the MAS

The Avaya S3420 Messaging Application Server provides logs and notifications for events, errors, and alarms similar to those available on the Avaya S3400 family of message store servers.

The alarm subsystem provides mechanisms for sending alarm notifications to support personnel in a timely manner. These notifications can be sent using the Avaya Initialization and Administration System (INADS) and through the use of SNMP traps. Administration for these notifications is covered in Configuring serviceability and Configuring MAS serviceability.

Each MAS also provides a set of event, error, and alarm logs, accessible to support personnel for analysis. You can access the following logs using a set of command line interface tools:
