Software installation

New software is installed whenever updates are required. Because Avaya media servers are always shipped with a working version of software, all "new" software installations done in the field are actually software upgrades. The normal procedure is to:

To install new software on an Avaya media server:

  1. Make sure that the server is configured for this site. See Configuration for details.
  2. Identify the standby server.
  1. Have software ready to install:
  1. Log in to the standby server.
  2. On the main menu under Server Configuration and Upgrades, click the Install New Software Release link. Complete all screens beginning with Choose Software.

If a software installation is already in progress, you will be prompted to take over that session. See Resume installation for details.

  1. You may briefly leave the Install New Software wizard to install new license or authentication files, depending on the license source. When done, click the installation wizard window to resume software installation.

  1. Repeat steps 2 through 6 on the duplicate server.

It is possible that the new software changed some of the configuration fields or screens. After a software installation:

  1. Run the Configure Server wizard again.
  2. Page through all the screens looking for new fields that must be filled in.
  3. Fill in any new fields as required, then complete the Configuration Wizard.
  4. If no new fields appear, Cancel the configuration process on the Update warning screen.
