Install circuit packs into the port cabinets [75 XE upgrade]

Return to Task List

Danger! Before inserting or removing a circuit pack from a cabinet, put on a wrist strap and attach its plug or clip to the cabinet's frame.

Danger! The replaced port circuit packs must conform to the usable vintage requirements for a Release 8si system (see Reference Guide for Circuit-Pack Vintages and Change Notices).

  1. Using the label and the annotated list configuration all printout (provided with the Release 8si translation memory card), install the Release 8si control circuit packs into the new enhanced control cabinet(s) or the expansion control cabinet, as appropriate.

Note: You can use a TN756 Tone Detector/Generator in an upgraded PPN system. You can not use the TN756 in an EPN upgrade. If a TN756 is being replaced by a new tone-clock during the upgrade, you will replace this circuit pack either with a TN2182 tone-clock/tone detector or with both a new Release 8si tone-clock (TN768 or TN780) and a new tone detector (TN748B).

  1. Reinstall the previously-removed port circuit packs into the A cabinet using the decal and the annotated list configuration all printout (provided with the Release 8si translation memory card) as a guide.

Note: If a TN2182 is installed, do not reintstall the TN756 in the port network.

You do not need to move and retranslate these circuit packs. The new Release 8si enhanced control cabinet has 2 or 3 more port slots than the System 75 control cabinet you removed.
