Procedure	Steps	Notes
Check IP Softphones (R8 to R9 only) [R9csi]	Type display system-parameters customer-options and press Enter. Go to the Maximum IP Registrations by Product ID screen (last screen) and write down the number listed in the IP_Soft field. The number must be verified at the end of the upgrade.	For upgrading R8 to R9 only. For customers having IP softphones only. The maximum number of registered IP softphones may default to 1 after an upgrade. Note the number BEFORE the upgrade.
Administer ID Softphones within Enable Customer Options and Alarm Origination to INADS [R9csi]	For R8 to R9 only and customers having IP softphones, go to the System Parameters Customer-Options, Maximum IP Registrations by Product ID screen (last screen) and verify that the number listed in the IP_Soft field did not default to 1. If it did, get the number from field technician and type it in.	For upgrading R8 to R9 only. For customers having IP softphones only. Requires init login. The maximum number of registered IP softphones must match the pre-upgrade number.

The following upgrade tips were generated from problems identified in the laboratory or during early introduction.

After the software upgrade, place the original translation card into the new processor. It is a read-only flashcard at this time and must be replaced with the new translation flashcard before saving translations.

Replace the original translation flashcard with the new translation card before saving translations at the end of the upgrade.

In some circumstances, the number of registered IP softphones defaults to 1 after an upgrade. Before the upgrade write down the number of registered IP softphones. After the upgrade verify that the correct number is still listed.
