Recovering from a Hard Disk Drive 0 Failure

Because Hard Disk Drive 0 contains the base system software, you must reinstall the entire Avaya Intuity system if this disk fails on a single disk system. To recover from a Hard Disk Drive 0 failure in a single disk system, do the following:

  1. Remove the failed hard disk drive.
  2. Install a new hard disk drive.
  3. Verify the CMOS settings.
  4. Verify the SCSI host adapter settings.
  5. Install the UnixWare software package.
  6. Install the platform software package.
  7. Restore the system.

Recovering from a Hard Disk Drive 1 Failure

To recover from a Hard Disk Drive 1 failure:

  1. Perform an attended backup.
  2. If your system has alarm origination, activate alarm suppression.
  3. Remove the failed hard disk drive.
  4. Install a new hard disk drive.
  5. Reboot the system.
  6. Start at the Avaya Intuity Main Menu and select:
  7. Customer/Services Administration
    System Management
    Disk Management
    Replace Disk

    The system displays the Replace Disk Window.

  8. In the Enter the logical name of the disk: field, enter Disk 1
  9. In the Enter jumper id of the disk being replaced (0-7): field, enter 1
  10. Press F3 (Save).
  11. The system displays the following message:

    This operation will require approximately 10 minutes per gig to complete.

  12. Press ENTER when the system displays the following message:
  13. Disk replace was successful
    Hit Enter to continue.

  14. Deactivate alarm suppression.
  15. Restore the system.
