Removing power from the system

Before you open a machine's chassis, you must remove power to the system as follows:

  1. Shut down the system:
    • Shut down the system.
    • Remove any disc from the CD/DVD drive.
    • Turn off the power by pressing the power button on the front of the PC
  2. Verify that the green power lamp on the front of the PC is dark. If not, press the power button to power off the unit. See:
  3. Note: Users in the United Kingdom who have a modem attached to the system must disconnect the telephone line from the system unit before unplugging any power cords.

  4. Unplug all power cords from the AC connector on the rear of the machine.
    • The S3210 has a single AC cord. See S3210 back view.
    • For the S3210R, locate the power switch located on the back of the server, push the rocker switch to turn off power, and then unplug the AC cord. See S3210R back view.
    • The S3400-H might have one or two power switches and one or two AC cords, depending on the type of redundant power supply installed. See S3400-H back views:
      • For the vertically stacked model:
        1. Push the rocker switch on each power supply to turn off the power.
        2. Unplug the AC cord from each power supply.
      • For the side-by-side model:
        1. Push the rocker switch below both power supplies to turn off the power.
        2. Unplug the AC cord from below the power supplies.
  5. Continue with Removing the cover.
