The chassis cover protects the internal components. You must remove
the cover to access the internal components.
The steps you complete to remove the chassis cover is determined
by the server being used:

Removing the chassis cover on an S3400-H
To remove the chassis cover on an S3400-H server:
- Shut down the system and remove the AC
power cords.
- For a stackable (desktop) configuration: Remove any units
stacked on top of the machine you need to access.
- Remove the bezel (plastic cover) on the front of the chassis.
See Removing or replacing the front bezel.
- Press down on the two tabs on the top of the bezel.
- Rock the bezel forward, then lift it out.
- Loosen the screw latch for the top cover located on the back
of the chassis. See Removing or replacing
the front cover.
- For a rack-mounted unit, slide the machine forward.
Note: To get sufficient cable slack, you might need to
unplug the cables on the back of the machine to slide it all
the way forward. See S3400-H back views.
- Slide the top cover towards the front of the unit to release
it, and then lift it off the chassis.
- The internal components are now accessible for replacement.

Removing the top cover on an S3210R
To remove the chassis cover on an S3210R server:
- Shut down the system and remove the AC
power cords.
- Remove the two screws located on the back
of the chassis. See S3210R back view.
- For a rack-mounted unit, slide the machine forward.
Note: To get sufficient cable slack, you might need to
unplug the cables on the back of the machine to slide it all
the way forward. See S3210R back view.
Caution! For some procedures, you might need to remove the server from the rails. Ensure that you have a clear work area before you remove the server. For safety considerations, get another person to assit you with lifting the server.
- With your thumbs, push down on the cover release buttons. While holding down the buttons, slide the cover towards the back of the server. See Removing or replacing the S3210R cover.
- Slide the cover off the back of the chassis.
- The internal components are now accessible for replacement.

Removing the chassis cover on an S3210
To remove the chassis cover on an S3210 server:
- Shut power off to the PC.
- Unplug any connections on the back of the PC as necessary to
correctly position the PC.
- Unfasten the top cover retaining thumb screw located on the
back of the PC. See S3210 back view.
- Slide the top cover off the back of the PC.
- Unfasten the side panel retaining screw, which is located in
the center of the top handle.
- Lift the handle and slide the side panel off.
- The internal components are now accessible for replacement.
