Before you open a machine's chassis, you must remove power to
the system as follows:
- Shut down the system. This procedure varies between the MSS
and MAS machines as follows:
- Message Storage Server (MSS):
- Shut down the system.
- Remove any disk from the DVD drive.
- Turn off the power by pressing the power button on the
front of the MSS.
- Messaging Application Server (MAS):
- Remove any disc from the DVD drive.
- Click Start > Shut Down.
- On the Shut Down Windows screen, select Shut down
and click OK.
- The MAS shut downs the software and powers off automatically.
- Verify that the green power lamp on the front of the machine
is dark. If not, press the power button to power off the unit.

attached to the system must disconnect the telephone line
from the system unit before unplugging any power
cords.

- Unplug all power cords from the AC connector on the rear of
the machine.
- The following machines have a single AC cord. See:
- The high-availability configuration has a AC cord for each
power supply.
- Push the rocker switch on each power supply to turn off
the power.
- Unplug the AC cord from each power supply. See MSS
high-availability configuration (back view).
