You must remove the drive cage in an S3400-family server to:
To remove the drive cage:
- Shut down the server and unplug the AC
power cords.
- Remove the front bezel and top cover.
- Disconnect the signal and power cables to all drives in the
cage assembly. See figure MAS drive cage
cabling.
- Unplug the power connectors from the DVD player and lower
drive (hda).
- Unplug the 80-pin IDE ribbon cable from the DVD and the lower
drive.
- Remove the drive cage retaining screws. See figure Removing
or replacing the drive cage.
- Remove the 4 screws from the front of the drive cage.
- Remove the 2 flathead screws from the side of the chassis,
located about 6 inches from the front of the cage.
Note: For rack-mount setups, you might need to
loosen loosen or remove some of the screws that attach the rail
handle to the server. Then you can slide out the drive cage.
- Gently slide the drive cage assembly forward and out of the
server.
- Place the drive cage assembly on a clean, static-free surface.
- Replace the appropriate drive:
