This screen shows the status of the server writing configuration information to disk, then implementing it. This step normally completes in about 5 minutes.
This topic covers:
When the configuration completes:
The screen indicates that all configuration information was entered, and confirms the version of software it is running.
If the configuration encountered any problems, see Solving configuration problems.
Click Close Window to close the Configure Server wizard.
If the configuration status stops at some point and
the screen appears to freeze, you may have lost contact with the server.
See Loss of server connection
for details.
For new systems: After you configure the first server, you must configure the second server as follows:
Connect the laptop to the services interface on the second server and run the Configure Server wizard.
When you get to the Copy Settings From a Duplicated Server screen, you can copy the information from the first server. You may choose to review and (optionally) modify the copied information, or accept it as is.
You are always required to set up the modem interface for each server's modem.
If you need to install new software on the media servers, it is possible that the software will change some of the fields or screens that are used in the configuration process.
Install new software as directed in Software installation at a glance.
When finished, run the Configure Server wizard again. Page through all the screens looking for new fields that must be filled in.
Fill in any new fields as required, then complete the Configuration Wizard.
If no new fields appear, Cancel out of the configuration process on the Update warning screen.
When finished, complete any required network administration.
Occasionally the configuration messages may not complete. This may happen due to a variety of reasons:
You may have reassigned the Ethernet interface you are currently logged into (see Accessing a reconfigured interface).
The network may have gone down.
Your browser or operating system might have crashed.
The interruption of status messages does not affect the configuration process. It will run to completion (barring a server malfunction or power loss).
If you do lose your connection to the server:
Correct the problem that caused you to lose contact with the server. (In the case of power or network loss, wait for the problem to be corrected.)
Log back in to the server.
Rerun the Configure Server wizard.
Step through the configuration screens to verify that the settings are correct.
If everything is correct, do not click the Continue button on the Update warning page. Click the Cancel button to close the wizard.
If you did need to make changes, click the final Continue button to configure the server again.
