The circuit card hold-down bracket must be removed when replacing
internal system components including cables, circuit cards, the
memory module, and a standard power supply.
Removing the circuit card hold-down bracket
To remove the circuit card hold-down bracket:
- Shut down the system and unplug the AC
power cords.
- Remove the front bezel and top cover.
- Remove the circuit card hold-down bracket as follows:
- Pull up on the pushbutton fasteners that connect the hold-down
bracket to the inside rail.
- Remove the bracket. See Removing and
replacing the circuit card hold-down bracket.
- Continue with any internal component replacement procedures,
such as:
Replacing the circuit card hold-down bracket
To replace the circuit card hold-down bracket:
- Pull up on the pushbutton fasteners to make sure that they are
fully extended. See Removing and replacing
the circuit card hold-down bracket.
- Position the bracket toward the front of the chassis, so that
the first pushbutton fastener is aligned over the 4th hole back
on the inside rail.
- Hook the tab on the hold-down bracket over the outer rail inside
the chassis.
- Adjust the bracket position so that:
- the pad on the hold-down spacer is over the tallest card,
and
- the holes in the central rail line up under the pushbutton
fasteners.
- Push down on the entire bracket. If the fasteners are correctly
aligned, it will snap into place.
- Push down on each of the pushbutton fasteners to lock the bracket
in place.
- Replace the top cover and front bezel.
- Restore power to the system.
