Purpose
The purpose of this section is to explain how to upgrade the messaging software.
Summary of upgrade procedures
A summary of the upgrade procedures follows. To upgrade the messaging software, you will perform some of the procedures documented in this chapter or in other chapters within this user guide. Please refer to the corresponding information as instructed in the following text.
Shut down the old Message Care services. See Perform a graceful shutdown.
Back up your message files. See Back up message files.
Back up the message database.
Uninstall the messaging software. See Uninstall the messaging software.
Uninstall ICM. See Uninstall the ICM software from a Windows server
Restart NT.
Upgrade NT, IIS and ICM. See Upgrade NT and ICM.
Install SQL 7.0. See Install Microsoft SQL Server.
Create the SQL databases. See Create message databases.
Create an SQL Server login ID and password. See Create an SQL Server login ID and password.
Define the ODBC data sources (DSNs). See Create ODBC data sources
Install the messaging software. See Install Message Care software
Run the DTS scripts for migrating the Access databases. See Run the DTS for migrating the Microsoft Access databases
Run the Post-Install steps. See Run the post-installation procedures
Restart the system.
