You can replace the following internal cables or components on
an S3400-H:
Replacing the interface cable
The interface cable links several internal systems, including fan
power and tachometer cable, and a 3-pin connector to the SCSI RAID
backplane.
To replace the interface cable:
- Verify that the replacement equipment is on site and appears
to be in usable condition, with no obvious damage.
- Shut down the system and unplug the AC
power cords.
- Remove the front bezel and top cover.
- Remove the circuit card hold-down bracket.
- Remove the old interface cable as follows. See Replacing
the interface cable.
- Unplug the 4-pin power cable.
- Unplug the two 3-pin connectors to the fans.
- Remove any cable ties as needed to remove the interface
cable.
- Unplug the 5-pin fan monitor cable to the RMB.
- Unplug the 3-pin J6 cable to the SCSI RAID backplane. See
S3400-H drive cage cabling.
- Install the new interface cable by reversing the removal steps
(see step 5).
- Replace the circuit card hold-down
bracket.
- Replace the top cover and front bezel.
- Restore power to the system.
If the system boots correctly, the new cable should be working.
